World Forestry Day was established in the year 1971.

 At the 23rd General Assembly of European Confederation of Agriculture. United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization decided to celebrate on 21st of March.

Later by uniting the two international commemorations the World Forestry Day and Forest Day. International Day of Forests was first established in 28th November, 2012.

United Nations General Assembly proclaimed to be celebrated on 21st of March every year Celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests.

Each year more than 13 million hectares (32 million acres) of forests are lost Forests cover more than 30% of the world's land and contain more than 60,000 tree species Forests provide food, fiber, water and medicines for approximately 1.6 billion of the world's poorest people Forests are very essential part of the life on Earth.

Forests play a critical role in climate change including global warming Provides home and shelter to a big range of animals fulfill the demands of the human beings by providing shadow, shelter, refreshment including clean air and water.

Countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts Organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.
